Who we are
Western Australia-Sri Lanka (Ceylon) Association also known as WASLA is a community-based Association that was founded in 1971 by an eminent Sri Lankan, Mr Charles Oorloff, a Crown Lawyer in Perth, when the population of Perth was only 745,000.
From humble beginnings WASLA grew into a thriving organization that was also granted Charity status in 2021.
Our mission is to promote and develop a strong foundation in building a good relationship between the people of Sri Lanka and Australia by assisting Sri Lankans to integrate into the Australian community well.
To honour all Sri Lankan cultural celebrations whilst acknowledging the diversity of Western Australia. Our passion is to identify critical needs of Sri Lankans living both here, in Australia and in Sri Lanka, and seek areas where WASLA can extend a helping hand.
Whilst enjoying ourselves by organizing many social events to foster interaction and fun within the community, we raise funds to support the various charitable organizations in the areas of education, special needs based in Western Australia and Sri Lanka.
